This is a Gleason remanufactured Model 503 that was updated as a Model 514 for faster lapping times, improved quality, more accurate control, and increased flexibility.. The Swing Pinion Cone (SPC) lapping action, combined with the conventional pinion horizontal and backlash motions, permits fast and accurate lapping of the tooth surface.
